    44 SPL and HS-7

My Google Foo is not working very well apparently.

I am shooting 200 cast (of course) and HS-7.
I know it is middle of the road loading, but can NOT find the source I pulled the data from. I do know that HS-7 loads are hard to find.
It is a precise load (10,0 gr.) in my trusty but heavy ol 3" 431!
I need to run it over the chrono!

Anyone have any ideas where the HS-7 data came from??

That load sounds very light. I use to use HS 7 in several smaller bores with a heavier charge if I remember. If you get it to burn with such light charges it may be OK ?
Lyman manuals use to show HS 7 in quite a few pistol loads but they were always upper end loads.

The lyman #3 cast bullet handbook has hs-7/44spl reloading data in it. A link to be able to download a free copy of that manual.

    RCBS list a HS7 load for a 250gr SWC
    8.5 start 706fps
    9.5 max 782fps
    .
    FUN FACT:
RCBS also lists a 41 Mag load for HS7, 210gr, but they spec a Mag Primer.
    12.5gr to 13.5 gr.

Not sure it'll be any easier to find, but HS7 is the same powder as Win 571, so data for it could be used.

    FIRST AND FOREMOST
THANX to one and all for you efforts.
Site SPIRIT is just one of the reasons that this site has NOT deteriorated like some others!

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT as they say!

I did as suggested and I went to Lyman Cast #3, there it was!
    10.0 was starting load.

Seemed like a heavier load in shooting than the manual suggests, but only the chrono can settle that.

Someone gave me a can of 571 so I will have to have a shootoff and see how it compares.
One more little kink . . . This is actually a jug of Jeff B's #9 that was a fast lot that he had for a very short period and stated to use HS-7 load data.
Aaaah for some of the old days when shooting Milsurp was really unique experience..
