    32 Winchester Special brass

    Hello all,
I have a friend who is gaining possession of his Grandfathers' 32 Winchester Special rifle after many years. Of course components are scarce. Do I remember that 32 Special brass can be made from 30-30 brass? any precautions?
Please let me know your experiences.
    Thanks,
    Rick

If you also have the 30-30 its very easy to mistake the two.
But yes the work. Lee dies have a long taper expander and annealing helps.

I believe that brass is available from Starline. (And yes, very easy to confuse the two if you own a 30-30 as well)

Duck Creek Sporting Goods had some a few days ago.
I know because a friend bought some.
    Good luck.

Rick, do you have dies yet? If not, I have a set of RCBS in good shape.

They have been out of stock for awhile at Starline with NO backorder or notification.

Very easy to make from 30-30. Just take a 30-30 case, lube it and run it into the 32WS die. For comfort you might want to then anneal, although, I confess, I've done it without annealing and didn't encounter any problems (but those were previously annealed 30-30 cases so they had not yet been work hardened). If you later decide youj don;t need to use them as 32 WS cases you can size them back to 30-30 (I've done that also).

Just use 30-30 brass and remove the second 30 with a dental burr in a Dremel tool, and change the 0 to a 2. Obvious it is no longer 30-30 brass. If I recall correctly a 30-30 conversion is a tad short.

Starline has recently begun filling previous backorders for .32 Win. Spc. It has been popping up sporadically at retailers like Midway.

Starline just shipped my order that I had placed Sept. 1, 2022.

I have "changed" .30WCF to .32 Win Spec. on several occasions with zero difficulties or problems! In all cases the cases were annealed using a Bernzomatic torch, and then resized using Imperial sizing wax.
I just checked, should you wish to purchase some (what I would do ) and Graf & Sons do have .32 Win Special brass in stock! Click image for larger version.

Cheaper at Duck Creek sporting goods.
Don't know about shipping charges at either, which "could" make a difference.
