Patriot Ordinance Factory new Tombstone 9mm lever carbine

The article on this gun appeared in the January 2024 Rifle magazine. Art Merrill is the author. I will let him tell about it.

    Here are my thoughts/questions:
    1. Is this in reaction to the anti-semiauto politicians’ efforts, maybe for California ? My daughter and I both thought it would be a good idea to have Hipoint 9mm carbines, since we have the ammo.
    2. It may have “modern” configuration, but to me it is to put it gently, unaesthetic.
    3. What is your take on it?
"You will wantonly strike a hornet's nest which extends from mountains to ocean, and legions, now quiet, will swarm out and sting us to death. It is unnecessary; it puts us in the wrong; it is fatal." Robert Toombs, Democrat of Georgia, warning of the results of the imminent attack of the Confederacy upon Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, 1861

My take is it’s way overpriced, 2nd take is they should have made it accept Glock mags. You could have 3 ruger pc9 carbines for what this costs. The ruger is legal in California.

I liked the idea from the keywords in your thread title, but oh my goodness the Ugly is strong with that one.

But if you are restricting yourself to a lever gun, why also restrict yourself to a 9mm? I love my Marlin CST carbine, and with the threaded barrel, I can shoot either mouse fart .38 target loads with a suppressor, or I can load monster magnums and have a serious weapon that can take all sorts of game.

If I were to design a magazine-fed auto pistol lever gun, I'd choose 10mm instead, using Glock mags. That round can either be downloaded to duplicate weak .40 for subsonic quiet work, or it can be loaded hot to near .41 magnum performance.

But pipsqueak 9mm? I just don't see why.

Sorry, but is doomed in this country anyhow re: the march to socialism, with its "high capacity" detachable magazine.

Certainly not disparaging 9mm carbines at all though; I have the new S&W folding carbine in 9mm & it's perfect for what I want.

Edit: But also agreeing with atfsux above; my preference for lever action chamberings is totally with 357Mag and/or 44Mag for the same reasons as you.

That thing is uglier than a mud fence. I don't actually understand the reasoning behind this particular firearm - but to crowd my similes - uglier than homemade shoes.

I'm sure that that gun is doing exactly what POF designed it to do. Make money for them.

As far as the aesthetics go, I don't care for them. Myself, I'm awaiting a Henry Big Boy Steel in 45 Colt to arrive at the LGS. That's more to my eye's liking.

Nearly $2000...takes a special kind of stupid to buy that.

    1894 Marlin in .357 costs $1000
    4 lbs of powder $150
    5000 primers $500
    5000 bullets $350

    Or:
    Hi-Point 9mm $350
    6000 factory 9mm $1500

If you actually commute to work on horseback, you might have cause to complain about the modernization of the lever action's aesthetic. Otherwise, you should accept that there are vast segments of the populace with zero desire to be John Wayne.

Local legality issues aside, a manually-cycled action does give certain reliability perks.

Tube feeders are slow. No two ways about it. Plus, rimless auto pistol rounds will tend to stack point-to-primer in one, and a lot of 9mm ball RN is borderline pointy.

I generally like the concept, but would MUCH rather have it in a pump eating from Glock mags.
