Oddball question - 308 subsonic 200 gr and Ramshot TAC

Any experience with these? I am just playing with the idea of buying a suppressor for my CZ 600 Alpha in .308, and I was gifted some 200gr sized .309 boolits for subsonic loads. Only powders I have that might work is TAC and IMR 4064, right now. Just kind of playing with the idea, down the line after we get past some medical bills.

Both are way too slow for subsonic use.

The case capacity is too large. I have used trail boss or some of the bulky pistol powders to load subsonic in 308 sized cases. If this is your first foray into subs, I would stick with trailboss as a starting point.

Also, what is the twist of your barrel. You might not be able to stabilize the 200 boolits. I havd to drop down to 180s in a couple of rifles to get them stabilized.

Hodgdon has a bit of sub data for .308. Your 1:10 twist barrel should stabilize the 200gr. If you have some Titegroup it is listed as a suitable powder. Fast pistol/shotgun powders are not position sensitive and are OK for loading in big cases w/o filler. Below "rifle pistol, shotgun switch "all" to "subsonic" Here's the data:

Interesting, but of course, I don't have any of those powders...Of course, drop by 10% for cast, and the data would be for the 220, since they don't have for 200, but still, it's an awesome head start, thank you.

5744 has proven to be Not sensitive to a lower filled case...but many have found that it also does not need a filler i.e fluff if that helps

When playing with lighter loads in my .308 (1-10 twist) I found that my 210gn bullet was not stable at anything under 1200fps. Not sure if it was a transonic thing or spin stability issue but they weren't accurate at all. OTOH, the 165 XCB and 180gn Lee bullets were good at 1000fps, and a lot of fun to shoot FWIW I liked an 8gn load of Blue Dot.

The .30-30 data tracks with my .308 velocity and accuracy wise.

As BK7saum mentions, those powders (TAC and 4064) are way too slow burning. You'll need to get the 200 gr bullet down to 1050 - 1125 fps to be subsonic and not "crack" out of the suppressor. I've shot a lot of 311299s loaded over Unique out of 10 and 11" twist .308W chambered barrels subsonic w/o any stability problems. However, for my subsonic cast load in my suppressed 308W (10" twist) I prefer a Lyman 311041 or Lee copy over 6.5 gr of Bullseye. I use LC fire formed cases with the flash holes drilled. Here's 10 shots at 50 yards I shot the other day confirming 50 yard zero with new scope on rifle. Velocity is 1125 fps.
