    Alt Thanksgiving Dish

    Italian Sausage and Peppers Stew

That is an old Fry Granddaddy pot

6 hot and 6 mild Italian pork sausage
    6 potatoes
2 green, 2 red bell peppers
    1 large onion
    3 cloves garlic
    1 bay leaf
    2 cans diced tomatoes
    1 small tomato paste
    Italian seasoning
    Salt
    Pepper
    Sugar or sweet and low
    2 cups water

Cut sausage tips off, then into 1" -1 1/2" pieces, brown lightly, in veg oil, wipe out excess oil, set sausages aside, put a little new oil in pan and sauté onion and garlic, add potatoes, peppers seasoning, tomatoes, tomato paste and 2 cups of water, bring to simmer and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, serve with buttered Italian bread. And a fresh green salad.

Our weather has turned colder, and I was thinking of a pot of chili, but this looks really tasty, I'm going to make some tonight.

Change the spices a bit and you've got a good pot of gumbo right there!

    Looks really good.

It's "cold" enough weather here in Missouri, so I made creamy potato with bacon bits soup & Ciabatta bread loafs the other day. No wonder I put weight on in the Winter months.

Italian bread is good,,,,, if you've run out of cornbread.

My wife who doesn't like any spicey food just loves this! To me it's hard not to eat too much! This is a dish my mother used to make for my Dad using Jimmmy Dean sausage instead of the Italian sausage, they called it train wreck stew.
