    200gr cast in 300 Savage?

Has anyone here tried a 200gr cast round nose bullet in a 300 Savage?

I found 2 loads using IMR 4350 and IMR 4895 but wanted to know if anyone has tried it

The bullet seats at 2.559 and is 200gr powder coated and GCd

It's been over 20 years, but I've loaded the RCBS 30-180-FN, with an actual weight of 195 grains, in my 300 Savage Model 99 using a variety of powders but not IMR 4895. The boolit had to be seated quite deep into the case but it worked fine. I did use a Lee factory crimp die for a better hold on the boolit. I chronographed my best load using surplus CMR100 and got 2010 fps. With that powder, it was suggested t0 use IMR 4895 data less 10% to 15%.

Good to see someone else has tried a heavy weight in the 300 Sav. I'm going to try lite loads as well with 700x and unique since I have a lot of those.

I see your up a ways from where I was born and lived in Island Falls.

Not much different than a .308. Should work very well.

I could see the short neck being problematic in getting a good OAL. I've only gone as high as 160.
