    Bullet Lube device

It’s Christmas shopping season so what’s the best device? I’m impossible to shop for Christmas and this might be an option:

    https://www.rcbs.com/bullet-casting/.../16-80040.html

    Or is another recommended?

I do best at auctions and buy most things second hand which is why it’s difficult to find a gift for me. But my wife is asking for a suggestion.

Or, if someone has one second hand?

RCBS makes quality products, their lube sizer is a good one. I used to have one, my brother has it now.

RCBS & Lyman use the same sizing dies and top punches, you can't go wrong with either.
These men and their hypnotized followers call this a new order. It is not new. It is not order.

The RCBS is my second favorite but my first, a Star, is hard to get and more expensive.

Ask in the S&S section and see if someone has what you want.

As deces has stated, dies interchangeable. Herters and Texan too IIRC. Lymans may (will) break the handle. Star is great if your doing piles of blunt pointed pistol bullets. Not so good for pointy maybe soft rifle bullets. Star stuff tends to be pricey. Saeco is nice well made. Gotta but Saeco dies.
I think he RCBS is a little bettyer deign and easier to use.

Magma Star is the way to go for speed and production.

If your wife can swing the price of a Star for a Christmas gift, that's the one you want!
I have a couple of them, and they are just a charm to use.
There is a whole sub-forum for the Star here at castboolits.
Here is one thread with a member here that's new to the Star, and other members offer some good general info about them.

The only two I have used are the RCBS and Lyman. I made a lot of bullets to sell while in college using my friends Lyman. It failed twice on us. The head of the threaded piston rod broke off and we had to take it to a welding shop to get it fixed. This was using Alox and RCBS lubes that are relatively soft. For this reason when I graduated school I bought the RCBS and 40 years later it's still going strong. The only feature I don't like on the current model is the slider bar to turn the piston screw. It's always in a different location when you reach for it. On the older model, which I have, the rod is hex shaped on the top so you can put a ratchet wrench on it and always keep the wrench in the same position. Never heard of anybody else breaking the Lyman so may have been an isolated incident.

I triple recommend the Star, but Magma may be the only place to get sizing dies made currently. Hopefully someone will offer aftermarket dies a bit cheaper than Magma

I use a Lyman 450, and while I get good results it's taken a lot of tinkering to get there. I'm interested in trying something else. For my Ranch Dog 432-265-RF, I have to push through size with a Lee die first, before lubing in my 450 (yes I know it's a tumble lube bullet) to keep the bullet concentric. I haven't had an issue with the 31141, as it takes much less force to apply the gascheck on that bullet than it does the Ranch Dog, and accuracy has been acceptable from my rifle.

Since I have a good handful of sizing dies for the my 450, I'm considering the RCBS when I try something new.

The Star sizer/lubricator is the greatest invention since sliced bread! I don't know how I put up with the RCBS tool for as long as I did.

Once I started to use Star lubesizer I was sold. I'll never use any other sizer in this life.

How much is the Star? It says to call for pricing and I did that today and they were closed.

Check the swappin & sellin forum. I just saw one for sale with multiple dies and lube sticks and such. Keep your eyes open and you'll find one.
