Not only the means to mount optics, but also a cheek riser with which to use them, plus the means to mount a light. . .

It would be better in stainless, but get it to me in .357 Magnum and SOLD!

Don't like them either. It's sad to see the 30-60 year old Marlins on Gunbroker all tacticooled up. I get it if they were restored from a house fire or something..... actually nope. Still don't like it

Not for me. If I want "tactical", I have AR's.

IMO it is a way to produce the gun at a lower price point. Plastic is cheaper than wood.

Doesn’t interest me any ! If others like it and it sells so be it. Each to their own.

I harbored the same repugnance when I first saw the Henry X model. That is, until I handled one. I have quite a few lever guns and love the traditional wood/blued styling of Winchester/Marlin/Henry and Rossi but for a rifle that you can use and I mean really wring it out, it's hard to argue the practical aspect of these critters. Now to be fair, I think the Marlin is a bit much but the Henry version is a little more sedate. In action, very smooth, quite good accuracy with and Lord help me, florescent sights. This past Tuesday, the the second day of West Virginia's antler deer season, with two inches of rain running down my back, I was glad I didn't bring a "nice" gun with me. I consider myself a traditionalist but I can appreciate the merits of fiberglass handles on my axes and shovels as well.

That ain't right. Back in the day Ramline used to make a traditionally shaped plastic stock. That kind of made sense on a hunting rifle
Looked like the henry all-weather rifles. That tactical stuff on a lever gun is like putting GPS on a covered wagon. Just my $0.02 worth.

. I fully agree. The reason I bought my Henry X model was to handle the Olympic Peninsula rain and wet snow. I do wish that Henry had also included a Pic. rail on top but the fiberoptic sights were a nice touch for my aging eyes.

Don't like it. It's no better or worse than the other Margers being made. I have no interest in a lever gun with any of the following:

    • Laminate
    • Stainless steel
    • Checkering
    • Fiber optic sights
    • Large loop
    • Synthetic stock
    • Barrel shorter than 20"
    • Picatinny rail
    • Hammer extension
    • Scope
    • Threaded muzzle

The 1895 has most of that and what it doesn't, the Dark or one of the other Ruglins does.

In looking at the silhouette on their "availability pending" image, the 1894 Dark is apparently going to have a pistol grip stock instead of the EEEEEE-VIL straight wrist! JOY!

Amen If rust and termites dont like it then I dont either. I suppose this is the future and I wont be a part of it.
I could warm up to some REAL checkering though.

I see it as a functional rifle tough and built to handle rugged terrain and weather. If it’s accurate it’s good. Lever guns fill many needs they run the gamut hunting home defense critter control and provider of food. Tradition is cool but even at age 66 I see this as solid rifle and will most likely own one maybe two. But the 30-30 is the caliber I will wait for.

Good news. The wood one Ruglin makes has checkering. I'm guessing it's pressed not cut but who knows? It's the only thing wrong with that model in my opinion. Checkering looks silly on a lever but so does everything else I listed above ... to me anyway.

A tacticool lever in .30-30 WIN? Maybe they will. Maybe they'll make a .30-06 semi-auto with a pic rail too.
