MIL-C-372C RIFLE BORE CLEANER for other stuff.

    Hi Folks,
I have more than a lifetime supply of this military bore cleaner.
Since I won't use much, I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried using it for other stuff?
I know it works good for cleaning old tools etc.
    How about penetrating oil?
Maybe in the gas tank of my car as a fuel system cleaner?
Any other ideas or experience with it?
    Thanks

If you have full quart or gallon cans they should sell briskly to Garand owners.

Works good when mixed with aircraft hydraulic fluid for removing external rust.
As has been mentioned, great for penetrating oil./beagle

A guy asked me, last week, if I threw out my little can. He had said it is nitro benzene and deadly to use.

hmm, maybe different stuff. My little can says POISON on it but is also called Rifle Bore Cleaner. Sorry and also for being too lazy to get a product #.

Nitro benzene was what made the old Hoppe's #9 effective. The EPA stopped them from using nitro benzene in the late 80's.

Hatcher reported the analysis of Hoppes No 9, pre WW II to be
    Ammonium oleate 16%
    Neutral saponifiable oil 24%
    Nitro-benzine 6%
Light mineral oil (kerosene) and amyl acetate 54%

My stuff quickly dissolves lead and has an extremely potent smell that lingers forever on a discarded piece of patch.
