Anyone have favorite loads or hunting experiences to relate with the .45 Colt single shot rifles? Personally I wish NEF had made them with longer barrels but oh well, they're still very nice as produced.

I like the short light weight 45 colt barrel on my handi for hunting deer in a swamp i hunt. I use a Hodgdon website max load of lil'gun powder with a standard large pistol primer with a 250gr xtp, or a 255 gr cast on CFE pistol powder. Both loads do just fine on deer for me. The cast load is much better on the ears and makes less of a mess.
