I doubt that my eyes are good enough to shoot as well with those open sights now days, but the load is still good.

I suspect that the 311-466 or the 311-291 will each give you excellent results in your 30-30. I have used both of them, to the tune of thousands, when I was shooting lever action silhouette and there wasn't a dimes worth of difference in group sizes, but the 291 did better on rams. These days I use the 311-041, but only because I have a 4 cavity Lyman for it.
