    Sig customer service

Had a bad run in with sigs customer service dept. No real attitude issue, just really bad service. I have owned and operated sig pistols for 20 years. I have 10 of them. Obviously I am a fan. I even understand their warranty policy.....Thats where the rubber hits the road.
They claim they will back any issue with their guns as long as the problem is not due to reloaded ammo issue. If it is a factory ammo issue, then you need to deal with the factory that produced the bad ammo. That in itself was a lot of fun .....
A buddy of mine left me a bunch of magtech 45 acp ammo at my range. So I decided to fire and load the brass. I was doing 3 round drills and had a squib, another one went in behind it and it ruined the barrel, but thats all that happened. No injuries or further damage to the gun.
I sent the gun in to sig and they told me to pound sand in my *** and call magtech. I did not even ask for a replacement. I just wanted it checked out by the factory smith. They kept the gun hostage 2 months trying to get me to buy a new barrel. For 240 bucks I did not want their barrel. I can get a custom barrel for 170.00 in stainless with an unconditional warranty. They finally sent me the gun after I threatened to tell on them if they did not...lol...lol...Seriously though , thats what it took. When I got the gun back, they had ruined my hogue rubber grips by smashing them in a vice. They have two perfect, deep, vice cuts in the bottom rear of the grip and one slight one at the top. I am not even going to bring it up. It only cost me 70 bucks to have sig tell me to go to hell. Not too bad. They gave me the complete run down on their warranty, in a nutshell, as long as you dont shoot it, they will fix it for free. If you fire bullets out of it, it's your problem. Serious as hell, thats what it came down to. It really pains me to know I wont be buying another of my favorite guns anymore. Not out of stubborn principle but, because I am screwed as a customer with this company if I need them. I guess it's time to look at other gun companies and be a little more, "open minded". It Will be fun gun shopping again. As far as magtech....They suck so bad they should go to hell. Thats another story for another day.

That's such a shame. I sent the wife's back in when someone screwed up the finish on it. They refinished it and replaced the springs in the mag because they didn't meet spec. All I paid was shipping both ways.

Seems like all the companies are getting stupid anymore. Cost cutting at it's finest, to bad it's cutting the customers throat.

I bought one of their reconditioned police "red box" pistols, a P-220. The finish came off the first time I cleaned it. They told me "we will take a look at it, but I can't promise you anything sir." I am not taking a chance on another 30 bucks shipping and then getting stuck with paying for the finish anyway. Just a bad deal. I wish it were not the case.

Word of mouth is the best form of advertising ......... and Sig just bought a boatload of BAD KARMA!

I had an HK Tactical fire out of battery when doing quick double taps. I was using WW or maybe Federal 230 gr HP's. Got the ammo from the local FBI agents, who used to Qual at my Range.

Blew the mag out the bottom of the frame at supersonic speed, split the grip part of the frame in three or four places, etc. Called H&K, sent the gun in along with the remaining box of ammo, all the empties I could find from that box, etc. Also sent along a report of the incident.

They basically called me a liar and told me I was NOT using factory ammo. Also told me their gun could NOT fire out of battery, the design didn't allow it. And to contact the ammo company.

There were two "Customer Service" guys. One was very decent and took the time to try to solve the problem. I ended up speaking with him in the end when I finally agreed to pay RETAIL for a new frame. $300+ . (This was in 2001)

I vented about the whole deal and told him this was my LAST HK and that I was less than happy with my treatment overall. But related that he had been very informative as well as polite. And that I appreciated at least ONE decent person to deal with at H&K.

They replaced the grip at my cost (full retail) took them about three months. I get the gun back and the grip serial number is now different than my old ser #. The slide is numbered as well ...so now I have a mismatched gun!

BUT....... I ended up with THREE new 12 rd mags. I'd only sent in a single 10 rd mag. This was the time of the stupid Clinton AWB remember? And the gun was returned in a cordura Tactical case a $90 item IIRC at the time. So I think the guy I dealt with took care of me at least a little.

Sold ALL of my HK's except the Tactical.........will never buy another.

BTW.......A neighbor had issues with MagTech 230 gr .45 acp ammo. Firing it in moon clips in a 5" M-625 he couldn't extract the loaded 6 rd clip. The cases were so swelled and the primers were the absolutely FLATTEST I'd ever seen in any handgun rd...EVER. We finally got the cases out and he later traded the gun off. MagTech=JUNK IMHO.

I really hate to hear these horror stories. If I plunk down 500-1000 for a gun that given care should last two lifetimes I wouldn't expect such problems. I repair medical equip. and as such am in the "Customer Service" industry. I treat my customers the way I would want to be treated and feel I am helping the company by increasing repeat sales as my customers know as long as I am their service guy, any issues will be taken care of.
Is SIG customer service Smith & Wesson?? or what was SigArms in Exiter? Mass? or wherever.
I always remember Ruger having great cust. service but haven't used them in a while, I wonder if they are still good. I had a magazine spring on my 77/22 22mag keep binding and called them to order a replacement and they ended up shipping me one for free. That is the kind of stuff people remember..........And so is your story unfortunately for SIG
