    New Ruger Marlin 1894 questions

What is the bore diameter of the new Marlin 1894 .44 Mag? Did they use the rifle SAAMI specs or the handgun SAAMI bore specs? I’d like to be able to shoot .430 Cast.

    Marlin website shows 1:20" twist.
    Hope this helps.

    I didn't know they had released a 94 yet?

Just in 44 mag, from what I heard.

Yep, they exist. I did the transfer for a friend not long ago. Don't know that he has slugged it yet though.

There is a detailed writeup on the new .44 Mag 1894 Classic by Layne Simpson in the latest edition of Rifleshooter magazine. He says it has 1:20 twist and slugged the bore of the test rifle at .429. He also says Ruger’s spec is .430 plus or minus .001. I don’t usually buy gun rags but am interested in the new 1894 as well, and this is the gun on the magazine cover so I made a rare (for me) gun rag purchase. I’m waiting for a new-made 1894 in .357 mag and as soon as I see one for sale I’m gonna jump on it.

The current issue of Rifle Magazine has one on the cover and the article is by Brian Pearce. Grooves are at .430 1:20 twist and will swallow rounds out to 1.700 OAL so SWC's will feed.

The one I saw was the nicest Marlin 1894 I have ever seen and just like the one that Brian used for the article.. They are all .44 Spec/Mag Carbines. I think the next ones we will see will be .357 or .45 LC.

I am waiting for a 1894 CB .44 Short Rifle with the Octogon Barrel. Supposedly next year, but will find out at SHOT in January.

I figure it will be .357 released next. More of a following and easier access to a wider variety of ammo.
