    Leupold Vari-X III 6.5X20 40mm Model 39245 Gloss Fine Duplex Reticle Target Varmit

    Greetings 'glass' experts;

    For comparison, the above titled scope is going for about $550 new.

    My [used] scope is a "Leupold Vari-X III 6.5X20 50mm" and is listed in some places for twice that! I'm planning to attend a local gun show [as a vendor] and need your advice re: 'resonable' pricing, as I'm unfamiliar with this brand & its models. Thanks much Pards.

    The Vari-X III line discontinued about 20 years ago. The current version is the VX-3HD 6.5-20X50 SIDE FOCUS CDS-T FINE DUPLEX https://www.leupold.com/vx-3hd-6-5-2...-t-fine-duplex

    About a year ago I passed on a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5X20 50mm for $450. It had standard turrets. If it had target turrets I would have jumped on it.

    M-Tecs: Thanks much for assistance. Although it's mounted, I cannot find anything like a S/N, only model #. I removed the sun hood and thought the bezel would be stamped, but nay nay. Thanks again. Wally

    p.s. I just used your link to contact the factory for specs, tech info, etc.

    The serial number is usually stamped on the bottom of the turret.

    If your local gun shop guy takes consignments, you'd probably get a lot more for it there.
    Here, the commission is usually 20%, but it'd be a hard sell for any kind of price at any gun show I've ever been to.

    I'd stick it on Ebay, people are paying stupid money for just about any Leupold scope.

    If there is no SN on the bottom side of the turrets then the scope is not a "real" Leupold. There have been a lot of fakes being sold on ebay and else where. They may look and be marked like a real deal, but they don't have a SN on the bottom. Even the old M8s and old variables have their SNs on the bottom.
