I have this Winchester to sell. First some pics:
There's lots of story here. This piece started life as a run of the mill post-64 in .30-30. It was in like new condition when I bought it 15 years ago. I bought it from a friend who has made his living as a gunsmith since 1958, he bought it new.
In conversation with another friend he mentioned that he had bought 10 barrels from Badger Barrels that they were making for Winchester under contract when Winchester went under. They were 26 inch half round, fully cut to install on a 94. As you can see they are marked "One of a Thousand". I picked one up along with all the other parts & pieces needed to make a complete firearm.
So my first friend and I (mostly him) put the two together. I picked the Lyman 375449 mould to use for Leveraction silhouette working up a load with AA 2230 that shot into 1.5 inches at 150 yards. I had to Beagle the mould to get it fat enough to fit the bore. It served me well with absolutly zero leading.
Well, it served me well up until I saw an auction for most of the parts needed to make it into a Model 64. I'd always disliked the straight grip on a 94, so . . . lots of fitting and gunsmithing later I had a 94/64 in .38-55, which I loved. The barrel never saw a jacketed bullet. I ran about a thousand of the .375449s through the barrel, the gun itself had less than 100 .30-30s run before I bought it. Both sights are Lyman's and the rear has a Merit adjustable aperture.
As things go with time passing I no longer shoot the sillywet game and there .45s out there that I need. Need mind you. So I figure it's time to move the old girl along, let someone else enjoy her. She comes with all parts (except the .30-30 barrel and mag) that I took off and the remainder parts that came with the model 64 set that I didn't use. Here:
The mould and die sets are the ones I used with her, a great combo.
The nitty-gritty: I want $1375 shipped to the CON US, with a bit more for AK/HI shipping. I'll take cash, USPS money orders or check if I know you/we've done business before. Or I'd trade for a pre-series 70 Colt .45 Gold Cup that has been well loved and has lots of life in her. The first I'll take it posted here gets her, then PM me and we'll set it up
Thanks.
