    Lead mix for 450 bushmaster

Good afternoon, its been a long while since ive been on here, well after two near death experiences for me and one stroke and a near death of my wife, plus the addition of two kids im finally getting back into reloading and casting. Ive done alot of shotgun reloading and making shot since i have tons of lead of all types.

Well I finally got some 450 bushmaster supplies(brass, primers and powder) Well im trying to figure out what lead mix everyone uses for a good 450bm round for deer. Ive got linotype, soft and hard(wheel weight). So casting for this is going to be new for me. Only other thing ive cast before was 45cal and 50cal round ball for ml and I use strickly soft for those.

Seldome will ya go wrong with COWW alloy. I shoot a Lyman Gould bullet in my Bolt 450 @ 1600 fps and get a balled up bullet with it!

I would go w/ wheelweight lead, or the equivalent.

Linotype straight is not needed for hunting, but the bullet is fairly heavy and you will want it to grab the rifling well to spin up immediately rather than skid. I have had heavy (475 & 50) revolver bullets skid a little at first engagement and if you let it continue all just goes bad.

You didn't mention the arm. Bolt rifle, use whatever lube method you like. Gas gun, most people will probably recommend powder coat.
Me, I'd probably get a gas check design.

    Best of luck.

I'm planning to use 40% cows 60% soww, plus 2 % pewter thus fall. Hopefully I'll get a bit more expansion out of my 452-255 rf in a 45 colt
