    Results Of Complaining

I and my Sister in Law talked with my case manager again
As the "New" Doctor had a CAT Scan and MRI taken and then gave me the same BS Song and Dance as the other doctor had

Explaining my next step was with my Lawyer

My Case Manager works for the company that is sort of the Ohio Workman's Comp Insurance provider for the company I worked for when I was hurt

They wanted me to first "Try" Cleveland Clinic again
I agreed to going back if I saw someone other than the Doctor that I had seen the first 2 times I went there
Head of the department , with a herd of medical students and interns Kissing Her back side

First She wanted me to drive 1 1/2 hours each way 2-3 times a week for "Treatment" in a Study
Told them 2 times I couldn't make the drive 2-3 times a week
I would need to stay local , never got a OK to do that

Then she wanted me to take a "NEW" med that Ohio Workman's Comp already told both of us they would not pay for , $550 co pay per month through my insurance

So close to 2 years later we "Talk" to case manager AGAIN and fax her my Lawyers paperwork

    Surprise
4 days later I have a appointment with a Different Doctor at a different Cleveland Clinic location

I had the 9 AM appointment and am checked out by the doctor for over 1/2 hour
I am also supposed to start on 2 new meds as soon as Ohio Workman's Comp OK's them

As she check everything , she also explained I was not the first person that she had seen that had "Problems" with some of the staff
She also admits she has no say as to how things are run at any of the other Cleveland Clinic locations
Or had NOT had their paperwork finished and sent in to Ohio Workman's Comp ( last appointment it took 9 months )

Cleveland Clinic is referring me to a ENT local to me to see if there is something that can be done
As the every day Sinus Headaches are getting worse
I have ONLY been asking for this for 10 years

Also I am to have a appointment with a Neurologist
As she and another of my doctors think nerve pain or damage is part of the problem from the plates installed to hold my skull together after a fall 10 - 12 feet onto my forehead

Sure a GREAT way to mess up Early Goose and Teal hunting Season

Hope you get some relief. Sound like they or that doctor only hears what they want to. Your right in finding a different doctor. One that is working for the person that needs them not the other way around. I have trouble but manageable. Never good when your not feeling well.

    It's all about the money.

They have insurance companies that want to take IN money,, yet do all they can to NOT pay out money. And,, if they are in a position to have to pay out money,, they want to use the ones that give them the biggest return. Example; your co-pay meds will often cost them a lot LESS than what you pay,, therefore they get money from YOU, and doesn't cost them anything.
But once a lawyer gets involved,, because they see money,, the insurance companies, and health care providers etc all see them losing a lot more of their money,, so THEN they decide to actually help someone with stuff that will result in them losing less than if the lawyer gets them to a court.

All that aside,, I'm glad you are FINALLY getting somewhere with them. Too bad it took so long AND required a lawyer.

A lot of folks just don't understand what dealing with daily headaches and then migraines do to you. My neck and back are shot. It took three years for me to finally get a SS Disability hearing. When I moved out here (about two years after last injury) I was told by the SS worker I will have no problems collecting based upon my medical. Right up to the question of education. Said with my Masters, I would need to be missing both hands as I was highly educated before I could qualify. Yup. Got a lawyer. Actually had two, first ended up dropping my case after a year as he was to start working for SS. Second one told me there was a 50% chance of winning because "I don't look disabled ". I had to pay for the tests upfront too. At hearing judge started off as hard case to my attorney and then their medical specialist testified. Judge speaks to me and says he rarely ever gets to do this but granted me full Disability right there. Says SS really messed up and concentrated just on the headaches/migraines. Look on my attorney was priceless as I told him I told you I was screwed up and in pain (nurse testing me with those electrodes on my back said she never had anyone reach the level of voltage they were hitting my back with and still couldn't feel it).

Anyway, hope you get some relief. Some of us know what it is like to live like that. My driving limits are about 45 mins or so also. I can do two hours but have to lay down and will pay for it. Pain docs don't care.. eligible for Tele medicine but they stopped when they couldn't get the higher rates so I have to travel 45 mins each way every month. Best of luck and prayers sent.

I once found that I was seeing a doctor who's cost for an office visit was LESS than the insurance co-pay.

I hope things work out for you.

You might want to consider if shooting high recoil guns is a wise thing to do.

When I was a case manager I had one client who had problems similar to yours. We went round and round on his treatment at the VA hospital, until the VA social worker said (on the quiet) I should ask for a new doctor. We did get a different doctor, and suddenly his care went straight up. He began receiving therapy that he should have had years ago.

    Johnch,

Sadly with health care being run and operated by the insurance companies, real concern for a patients well being is a thing of the past at least in this area. It sounds like you are having the same experience in your location too.
I have a good friend that's a surgeon in California and he is appalled by the stories that I've relayed to him about my experiences. My wife and I sincerely hope that you'll be able to get the treatment that you need as I know how it is to be lost in the quagmire. I've been running into the out and out lies and half truths with my condition now for 12 years. I can't even find an attorney that will challenge the status quo in the this area of SW MO. With any luck your Lawyer can get their attention and get some answers for you. Hang in there.
