I know that you can do anything once, but can you shoot a Lee REAL bullet in a cartridge. Has anyone tried it? What were the results.
This is for a British/Belgium small rife. The chamber casts as a little longer than a .50 Remington (M71 Army) (1.0 vs .90). The rifle belongs to a friend. Looking for a .50 cal bullet between 250 and 300 grains. Yes price is an issue.
It does shoot .50 round ball. Just think a bullet would give a little better accuracy/performance.
One way to find out! Buy a dozen or more and load them.

It's a Tapered Bullet (the LEE 50 cal 250 gr REAL) -- the base is around Bore diameter, the last band near nose around Groove diameter.
They obturate at firing, but push in easier at loading.
How it would work in a cartridge gun, don't know.
You might look at the Hornady 50 cal 0.512" 240 gr PA Conical as well.
I have considered these in 50 cal (0.512) cartridge handguns, and while I have had a box in my drawer for a couple years, haven't gotten to the project.

The lee mold is cheap, get one and play, I see no reason it would not work if loaded properly to fit chamber ???
I would start with pure lead and a light load to see what happens ??
BLAHUT--That was the idea. I was just looking for others experience.
Unless your friends rifle is really tight bored and chambered you’ll likely spend the cost of a proper mould in cleaning fluid and patches trying to scrub the bore free of lead after shooting that lee bullet in it.

I use the 45 cal one in a 43 Spanish Rolling Block. I sized to .440 and load it over Unique. It gives me better accuracy then the Lyman 43 Mauser bullet
brstevns--So after sizing, what lube or powder coat? Any other pointers?
Had some success. We got a box of Hornady .50 240 gr conical. Cleaned off the grease, powder coated and sized to .510. Loaded up and shot them. about a 5.5" group at 50yds. So it has been a success.
I have used it in my 11.7x44 rolling block with black powder. Works fine. I don't see anything that need extra scrubbing.
