Thread: Anneal .22 Hornet brass?

    I know folks that loaded the 270 REN many times. That's formed from hornet brass. Fella was smart enough to figure how much to cut the neck of the chamber so you don't have to size the case the next time you load. That neck was really thin when expanded to 275-276 inside. The trick was to NOT push the round too hard and anneal the cases every so often. How often you annealed depended on how hard you pushed the bullet. Middle of the road handgun powders were the ticket. Ancient cartridges deserve a little kindness. If you need faster get a 222 or 223.

    I anneal my 22 k hornet brass. I get split necks more often if I dont.
