I've been hearing bits and pieces of interest in a RE-RUN of the 434640 44 Magnum (improved) molds.
This 45 2.1 "improved" bullet design of the original Lyman 429640 280 grain solid nose bullet with the round bottom lube groove. Ruger Blackhawks and Vaqueros, Dan Wesson 44's and S&W 629's all have cylinders that can handle this bullet well and it feeds fine in all the leverguns I've tried it in. It is a little on the heavy side for rifles with a 1:39 twist; however, I haven't experienced instability in my rifles with full power loads out to 200 yards.
IMO this is the best 44 bullet available for the lever guns and large frame revolvers. (I'm sure Ranch Dog fans would disagree) My Marlin 444 loves it crimped slightly over the ogive with a full case of H322 and my S&W 629 DX Classic shoots this bullet exceptionally well with a case full of 296.
Here's a link to the original group buy: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=14191
The plain base version is 0.435" diameter and 280 grains with WW/2% tin and 275 grains with Linotype, size nicely to 0.434" (left) and 0.432" (right) nose first.
The GC version weighs 270 grains using my 50/50 WW/LINO alloy and 0.434" - 0.435". With the gatorcheck they're 278 grains.
My alloys produce bullets at mold cavity size so WW alloy bullets should be 0.434" or less.
How many of you are interested in the plain base?
How many of you are interested in the Gas Check Base?
How many want both?
I'm also open to using a different vendor; we used LEE last time and they were OK but a 12+ month long wait is disappointing.
Have fun,
