Bought my first 1000 primer brick today since 2020

Stopped by the local Sportsman's Warehouse today to see what primers they had to maintain the stockpile. Other than match and magnum, the only "regular" primers were small pistol, as has been the case for the past year. One change is that their 2 package limit (200 or 300, if Fiocchi 150 packs), has been raised to 1000 or 1 brick. They had a fair selection of SP primers, RP, CCI, and Fiocchi. I ended up getting a brick of RP primers for $54.20 which is a lot more than 3 years ago, but reasonable today after seeing scalper prices 4X more not too long ago.

Powder selection is also much better, but roughly $20 more a pound than before.

Just curious, did they have any large rifle primers?
I've seen all except those in the past year.
I'm good at the moment with nearly 4k on hand, just curious that's all.

Decent price and no haz met charge.
Just checked my store, still showing a limit of two and no LR or shotgun primers.

We just had a Sportsman's Warehouse open nearby last week and it too had a good supply of small pistol primers so I bought a brick of Federal SPMag primers at what I thought for today was a pretty good price of $60.

I was at the LGS yesterday and they still have no idea when we'll see LR primers.

I picked up 200 CCI LRP for $12.60 per sleeve.
2 sleeves per customer. Still high but at least they are back.
It's been over 2 years since I 've seem them but then, I was not out.
This is just a buffer until the fall. Buy them when you can, but don't buy from the scalpers. Let them rot.

I was able to pick up a brick (1000) Federal Large Rifle Primers today at the Sportman,s Ski Haus for $80.00. Large Rifle Primers "On the Way?" Two weeks ago I got 1000 CCI Large Rifle Primers for $100.00 at Murdochs in Kalispell. These two purchases were first Large Rifle Primers I was able to buy for 3 and 1/2 years!

I haven't bought primers in years.
Don't shoot much or reload these days either.
I'll have to look at the sticker tags.
    I'm sure it'll be a shock.

Good luck with that. The new normal will be about $50 so the OP got a decent deal. I would be a buyer for 20K SPP a @ $50 per. I am still loading on primers I bought for $25 but Nothing gets cheaper after inflation.

I agree with your projection. $50/k for USA primers is about where I believe we will end up. People will piss and moan about it but that is not expensive IMO.

No, 5 cents per round for primers is not stupid at this point in the inflation thing. I would buy at that point if I needed them but I doubt I'll ever have to buy another primer in my life.

Heck, I just got 1000 small rifle and 900 Large pistol, sold as "collectibles" for 49 dollars each. They'll be loaded, since primers age well.

Yeah at this point I’ll be thankful to see them at $50 per 1000! I don’t need any right now but when I see that price locally I’m going to invest in a lifetime supply so I’ll not have to worry about it.

No LR or LP primers. A few SR match. I have seen a few LR and LP magnum or match primers in 2 other local stores, but at $10 or more per 100, but no regular LR or LP primers there either.

Where are you guys seeing them for $50/1k? My local gun store wants 4 times that price, and the few places online I have looked vary between $80 and $100 per 1k.

I'll be honest, primers are the only thing that ever limits my shooting. Powder seems to be perennially more available, at least in my area, and I've never had trouble getting lead. If it ever drops to $0.05 per primer, I'm going to drop $500 and fill an ammo can with the things. I only really need one size and type to do 95% of what I need...

Last primers I bought was in the fall of 2020 I bought several thousand at $39.99 /1000 , Inflation has gone way up since then if I see them around $50/ thousand I might buy them . I would also consider some of the imported primers at this time .

Big upcoming issue is I am low on shot shell primers and they are not even available in most places and crazy prices when they are!

It is compared to just 2019 but then so is just about everything else. Though I can buy a huge flat screen tv for less??

I know guys that paid $200/1000 in 2020. So many of those people are quite happy paying $75 per & at $50, most reloaders, even those that do NOT need them will be buyers.
