Thread: How much is lost when melting clip on wheel weights?

    I recently watched a video where a guy rendered 25 lbs of very dirty lead pipe. He estimated he would end up with 20lbs of clean lead. After fluxing the molten lead 3-4 times and pouring a bunch of ingots, he weighed them and he did end up with 20 lbs.

    I too calculated about 15% loss on wheel weights that were nearly all lead. From three years ago. clips, a couple of zincs and a little trash.
