    Estate Sale Remington 550-1

I have a 510, 511, 512P (gave my son-in-law the 512) & a 521T. I never stayed awake nights dreaming of a 513T, but lusted after a 513S (not in my price range as a teen or now). I respected the 550 because my uncle had one that was stone reliable & caused the demise of many squirrels. He used only shorts.

All of my .22 rf autoloading rifles are Mossbergs: four 152 & a 151K.

Recently I found a 550-1 in above average condition for $220.00. Considering what I saw on Guns International that seemed like a good price. According to the bbl stampings it was manufactured 12/49.

It's all there except the sheet metal empty deflector (the attaching screw is there).

I'll give it to our youngest son as he makes some amazing shots with the 511 that I gifted him. The 550-1 has the same sights as the 511.

Any of the Remington 500 series rifles are simply magnificent!

The 550-1 is an excellent rifle! I have one as well and love playing with it. Easily accepts a scope, but you can also use iron sights (I made a peep sight that attaches to the rear of the receiver using the scope mounting grooves).

    Great find!

    old henry,
Lust after that 513S or 513SA. Mine is Fabulous. Bought it back in late '60s for $45. Fitted it with a USA Weaver T10. good for long range on prairie dogs out to 165 yds with RWS Subsonic HPs.
Worth whatever you need to pay for it

You are fortunate to have that 513S & the $45.00 price even in the 60's was a steal.

I made my replica from a 521T bbl. action that I bought in the late '70's for $35.00 (it had a warped 513 stock, so I considered it a bbl. action)

I finally got around to putting it together in the last year. I kept the Lyman 57RS sight & OEM front.

    never had a 550

but over the years i have accumulated over 33 510's, 511's, 512, 513's, +521's including 3 [P ] models + still kicking myself when i did not take advantage when Springfield Sporters imported the load of [S] models from South America -

What is not to like about the 550 series, full sized, able to shoot any length .22 rimfire, the one that I have is exceptionally accurate, and just plain keeps working. Good Luck Chris
