Purchased from Dixie Gun Works and sent to Lee Shaver gunsmith extraordinaire with regards to firearms of the 19th century , and he relined both the bbl and chamber with chrome-moly inserts. The reason for the relining was to make it into a paper patch cartridge gun with a 1-17 twist . As such , the chamber on these guns is smaller than the standard 45/70 government cartridge and thus the need to fully re-bbl the rifle . The bbl was rifled for paper patch bullets (PPB) and chamber was cut using a reamer borrowed from Dan Theodore , noted BPCR gun crank and competitor . Brent claimed it is the only special PPB reamer in existence as Dan was kille3d in a fire 5 yrs ago. This rifle will only chamber cartridges with brass reformed for its special PPB chamber. A machinist was commissioned to rework a Lyman 45/70 that's used to reform standard 45-70 brass . The rifle comes with lots of brass , and a rear Vernier Soul sight (super grade)/Hadley aperture /select eye cup /Front sight is a modified aperture globe with spirit level with inserts made by Lee Shaver . I also just bought a WM-6XL Long Malcolm scope and it is included in this package (uses existing dove tails) 2 BACO molds/3 Accurate molds and lots of accessories .
