    Got-cha Day

Today is Got-cha day for my daughter. That is what she calls it, the day I adopted her.

Adopting kids is a serious decision by parent and child, takes some adjustment by both and should be approached and accepted by both, when the child is old enough to understand what is going on.

This is her 35th Got-Cha day with me, her actual 52nd birthday was on he 1st, we celebrate both days.

Today she is in charge of testing for a college. This is a real busy time of her year.

Any adopted child can truthfully say "they picked me". You're both blessed. Our family was also blessed by having our youngest daughter pick us. Biology has less to do with family ties than love. Love is the bond between family members. Enjoy your special relationship.

December 10th 1971 was Our Day. I have two daughters and keep forgetting when talking to them about my health issues so they can be aware of the genetics. Then I realize that is not a factor for the older one. But they know I love both equally.

Yes, it is a kind of "gotcha" because I used to be able to surprise her, now, it seldom happens, and she reminds me.

I was adopted at age 8 months. I got the very best parents anyone could ever want. They have both been gone for many years, and threads like this one still make me tear up.

My wife and I adopted one son, no relation to either of us, he is a good man, do not get to see him much, maybe once a year if I am lucky, he is in the army, a lifer. He is one of my 4 sons, all my sons are loved equally, all are good upstanding young men...

Sounds like a great find for both of you! Congrats! I adopted my wife's two kids out of an earlier marriage 30 some years ago and honestly, there is no difference to me between them and my biological child. One - mostly - happy family.

Blessings on you for being a dad. Girls need their dads as much as boys do.
