Suggestions 44 Magnum Light loads 225gr lead SWC

Need to be at 800-820fps, will be coming out of a 10" contender bull barrel, 225gr lyman cast SWC. I have bullseye and trailboss, prefer to use bullseye to save whats I have of the TB. Thinking in the 4.8-5.5 range of BE? Just seeng if anyone has a good starting point, Thanks in advance....Robert

    6.5 - 7 gr Bullseye +/-.

Quickload says 4.5 gr of bullseye. Of note, both chamber and muzzle prediction are very low for this prediction. I would not be surprised if more is needed.

I am with Larry on this. I use 7 grains of Bullseye in my .44s with any bullet. Having 1000 rounds per pound of powder has a nice ring to it.

For those suggesting "favorite" loads, I am betting that these are not what the OP is wanting.

His specific velocity range sounds a lot like a requirement where faster loads will not work due to the rules of a competition he is involved with.

Getting down under 820 fps with a 10" Contender is going to take charges well below typical.

Sir B1GB1RD, I'm the one about the armored flip-flops :
from the way I 've seen pointing your handguns vertically before firing, you evidently don't use dacron, but if I were allowed to be there, I believe 6 grains of Viht. N320 + dacron could work according to the indicated speeds.
    enjoy !

Gordon's Reloading Tool (GRT) also shows 4.5 gr. of Bullseye giving 815 fps out of a 10" unvented barrel.

For use in the Contender, he should load 6.5 gr Bullseye and walk it back in 1/2 gr increments until he gets the velocity he wants. That's where the minus in the "+/-" comes from. I use the 6.5 gr load as a start because, in my Contender barrel when pressure testing, that is where Bullseye in the 44 Magnum case begins to burn efficiently with minimal powder position sensitivity.

If you don't have Bullseye, Red Dot/Promo 6.0 gr under a 225 gr. in 44 Mag is a winner also.

I use 7 grains of Unique under a 240 grain SWC in my Rossi 44 Magnum in a 44 Magnum case - get @1050 fps from it. Good reasonable load and accurate.

I appreciate the feedback, again I will be using bullseye, so I am going to start at 4.5 and move upwards til I hit the load I need.
