Picked up a beater T/C Scout .50 rifle. The bore was neglected beyond use. Sir Bobby Hoyt did a rebore to .54 and I had him do a 1 / 36 twist. My thought was to shoot a conical better than the standard. Holy Cow! It's working. Was at the range today and it shot a power belt like never (for me) before. Inside 2 inches at 100 yards. At 70 years with open sights, I'm pleased. Also shot a cast hollow base pointed boolit (will dig up the mold number tomorrow) extraordinarily well. 80 grains of FFg seem to drive a trajectory such that the boolit is still on the rise at 50 yards & dropping to the target at 100 yards. Both the 50 & 100 targets were center hit bullseye. Only shot 8 shots but they all remained consistent. More range time needed to make any real conclusions, but it's looking good so far. I also shot a powder coated hollow base version of the same boolit which printed about 2 inches higher but still right on the windage line. It was a good day.
