    Off To Camp Perry

Its 5am. Rubbing sleep out of eyes. Ahhhh.... that first cup of coffee sure tastes good! Entered the Rimfire Sporter Match.
Going to give The Henry Small Game Rifle a try. It has a Skinner Peep Sight, so, according to the rules, I have to enter the Telescopic Sight class (T CLASS). HOPE MY EYES WILL FOCUS TODAY!

Well one more cup of coffee, then got to roll. Get in car. Oh crap... forgot my sunglasses.
Ok... did i gorget anything? Oh well, if i did ots too late. Here we go. Got a 45 minute drive to the MOST HEAVENLY PLACE ON EARTH!! Will try to post pics as the day goes on.

Arrived at 7:10. Stop to use the greenhouse. Had to make a political donation to the Biden campaign. Ok... I feel 10 pounds lighter now. Start the walk back. I avoid the shuttle. Walking gives a better chance to take it the views.

On range. Cannon shot and Colors at 7:45. Wind directly out of the South... for now. Prepping my equipment and myself.

I'm having problems loading pictures. After choosing file, there is no button to press to upload.

There should be an "Upload" button in the same screen view as choosing a file.

First GOOD LUCK at Perry!!! Re picture challenge, quite often, in "helping" others the challenge is due to the SIZE of their images. Sadly (vis this application) many modern cellular telephones and similar snap images at sizes waaaaay to big to send/post on this site. (So has been my experience/guess). What seems to work for me, as well as persons I've aided, is to reduce the size of your photo so it it's greatest size is ten inches or less. E.g., make it 10" x 10", or 10" x 8", or 10" by ???. Sadly, I'm not smart enough to know how to accomplish this ON the cellular telephone (I have Apple 14PLUS and an Apple 7) and need to open image on my Windows computer to shrink its size...
Good luck again vis shooting... and also w/ photo posting.

Good luck on your trek there.

The cannon shot and colors brought back some fond memories, shot pistol there a few times.

Resized below 800x600 and it worked.

The beautiful morning for the walk to the firing points. Absolutely awesome weather..... for now.

And of course, they had to walk the old fat guy clear down to #8! Did I mention I am done with the walking thing already.

Would like to hear how the whole experience was for you. I have been to Camp Perry many times but never shot there except skeet.

Last time I worked as a range officer at Camp Perry was in 2002. Bunked in the barracks. A very pleasant experience. Be prepared to spend all day in the hot sun. A good seat, maybe an umbrella for shade, & plenty of ice water. Once shooting starts, you don’t leave until shooting stops. Really enjoyed it & they even paid me $25 a day.

Went out there today to walk around. Sad! Nothing like it use to be. Was on commercial row for 25 years or so. Half the buildings are empty, big parking lot on the west end had very few cars. I was in bldg. 910A, last one on the row, steel targets and Dewey products. Wish I could say different. Cars were lined up along the firing line, so maybe most of the shooters were on the line. Got a parking spot right in front of the building one of my friends is set up. No more than 15-20 people walking up and down commercial row. Hope next year has a better turn out!

Since most of the NRA marches were moved to Atterberry its split a lot of commercial row

Maybe they built one in the last year or so, was told they didn't have a commercial row there. At least, not as big as Perry. My thinking, with price's on all components, travel expenses. less people are going to the big match's, and staying close to home at local clubs.

Shooting at Perry has gotten so high tech, read EXPENSIVE! that a lot of people can't afford it! I won several competitions there. Matches I shot is the 60's were very basic deals. Those same matches nowadays you pretty much have to have all the best equipment, all the best spotting gear and a pro or semi pro spotter. And that is just to qualify. To me it used to be fun, now it is a high pressure, all or nothing competition. You are not having fun.
