1903 32 acp sleeps here. Was my grandpa's. He bought it during ww2 because it was the only thing he could find ammo for. It has a great amount of sentimental value to me. It is fun to shoot, very compact. Have used better sights. He was a very good shot, primarily using it for small game hunting.

I had one of the Spanish .32’s, grip felt like a 1911, Gaztanaga Destroyer. It was used by the French army in WWI.

Extremely unsafe, it slam fired one time upon releasing the slide and fired another time when I dropped it, barely missing me. I was ready to chuck it in a lake, but someone wanted it for a collection.

I also had an Interarms W. German PPK/S. It usually left two bloody racing stripes down the web of my hand if I forgot to hold it high. That also went down the road.

Ferb, I know what we are going to do this summer.

I have been meaning for some time to take my modest collection of old-time pocket pistols out and give them a run through, so that will be my summer project this year. First up, I will be shooting my Browning 1910/1955. I'll run the Savage, Colt, Remington and Mauser later and will post the results as I go. Should be fun!

I have a Mauser HSC that I picked during the Vietnam fracas while serving in Uncle Sam's Army. Very accurate with both cast and condom bullets and fun to shoot. Sure is a bear to find all those little cases unless you are shooting over a bare surface. One thing you do not want to do with the HSC is to dry fire it..after a few cycles, the firing pin breaks every time. I learned that the good old "hard way".

    I'd love a colt 1903, someday...

Have a Mauser 1914 and it doesn't do anything for me. My HSC in .380 makes me smile.

Hope you find what you want.

I have a 1903 and a Walther PP. The Colt goes to the filling station with me on occasion, just in case Clyde Barrow shows up to rob the place while I'm buying gas...

    Still shopping for the pistol.

But this mould looks like it’d be great in the 32 revolvers and 30 SC.

Hey Brassmonkey, I’m a bit surprised you’re luke warm on the 1914 Mauser.
I’ve looked at one and that might be what I get. I think it’s pretty typical of the class of pre-war 32acp’s in that it’s heavy compared to today’s polymer guns. Anything in particular that you don’t care for about it?

More likely a Winchester 1897 riot gun.

    Well it worked!
Y’all talked me into trading a stack of hundred dollar bills for a nice Colt 1903 Type 4.

Ran about 300 rounds (all I had loaded) on the first range trip. I shot 2 groups of 3 shots each on paper, standing two hand hold at 10 yards to see where the boolits hit in relation to point of aim. Turns out they hit where I aim. Cool! The remainder of my ammunition was expended shooting the necks out of swinging plastic bottles. I fired two handed, single handed, other handed, slow, fast and had a ball!

I’ll get over the price of the piece. A year from now it won’t matter how bad it hurt my wallet but I’ll still have the cool little 1903! But……this little critter is going to eat a chunk out of my primer inventory!

A 1903 Colt is WAY more fun than a stack of hundies!

The nice thing about Browning's pistols. . .Yes, the sights may be invisible, but they point so well it doesn't matter much.

SOMEBODY needs to bring that gun back with better sights, a slightly bigger safety tab, and a Walther's internal-only last-round hold-open. I'm not even all that concerned about the heel mag release as that's ambidextrous and doesn't add to the thickness. Even with the modern plastic fantastics, it's too good a gun not to keep in production.

I think it's ugly, shoots well doesn't take up much space so I keep it around. I don't mind the weight.

I agree. I hate sharp edges on my pistols.

Not pre-war, but I luuuuuuuuuuuv the Astra Constables in 32ACP and also have a Beretta 81. Yea, not gonna use them for brown bear defense here in the wilds but they are fun!

    My 1903 is supposedly a WW2 model.

Based on my recent experience, my opinion is the Colt 1903 has a definite downside. It takes a lot of casting and labor on the single stage press to keep up with the extraordinarily high round count involved in a typical range session.

My design and favorite all-purpose .32 bullet.

Use 2 grains of Bullseye or TiteGroup in .32 ACP,
Use 2.5 grs in .32 S&W Long light alloy and pre-1960 steel frames.
    3 grains is OK in post-1960 Steel Colt D-frames, S&W Models 30 or 31,
    3.5 grains in .32-20 or .32H&R Magnum
