    Stevens early 520

I am working on a very early stevens 520 12ga pump, short barrel and the shell stop is very worn. Usually let’s the shells eject out the bottom. Any one have one of these problems on a old 520 ? I hesitate trying to peen it to enlarge it, don’t think I can solder any thing on it. Easiest I think would be to braze a blob and file to fit but I hate seeing brass in a guns innards. Maybe I need to break down and get a tig welder, as I really would like to have one. Parts for this thing I am sure a none existent. Any ideas?

If you have the old part , you might try just making another part.
    If I remember correctly.
That part is just made of flat steel.
But you can just gas weld up the worn section and then file it back to shape.
I would try making a new part first.
Then if that doesn't work , you still have the original part to work on or replace.

If it is the gun I'm thinking of it is definitely not one of Mr. Browning's better designs, although mine did work. Complicated mess to take apart IIRC. Mine had a 32" full choke barrel, along with the somewhat long receiver it made the whole gun seem about six feet long; balanced okay though.

I think I agree with LAGS on this one, try to make a replacement yourself if no one has the part you need.

Try a fix with superglue and a filler .like bi carb soda .......lots of info on utube ......anyhoo,not a forever repair ,but may be enough to last for years.

I never thought of making the part, and I have some metal banding that should work. Not to diss Brownings genius but this was not his better efforts. Thanks for the thoughts.

i have a pre WWI 520 and from all the reading on them i have done,
if the parts for the eject , stop and gate start to or do brake you have to make new or find the parts if you can.
and it will still be a pain in the you know what to get it working right.

other then that great gun, - the slide stop,

If this was mine I would try making a model 12 design and try work it into the action. It does have a little screw I assume it is to push the cartridge stop into a more catch feature but if I did a new screw it would need to be 1/4 longer and that would be in the bubba league, can’t do that! I might have to do some milling to fit the extra metal but if it is mine no problem. And this one is not mine.
