    Smoke from across the border

I live in Southwest Pa,and my back yard smells like a campground.Sky is hazy also.To top it off, they are taking down old smoke stacks and a power plant near me.What next?

Yeah Canada has some major fires that have been burning for weeks. In Michigan last week we were getting it bad.

Canada’s creating a new prairie province. I’m in WNY and it’s really bad here. Yesterday visibility was way down and all you could smell is smoke.

here several airports closed or flights delayed - serious health warnings - very limited visability yesterday - slightly better today - can't open windows due to the smell -

Yesterday was bad around here. It was hazy, but what surprised me was that you could actually smell it. I am in Delaware.
Due to the price of primers, warning shots will no longer be given!

Just get rid of the gas stoves and furnaces and everything will be fine.

In the 1990s, a huge jungle/ forest fire in Mexico blanketed Texas for a month plus in the summer. I worked outside and breathing the smoke was almost worth the sun blocking aspect…..
    I hope it’s out soon for y’all.

MrWolf - the term "Forest Management" is not in the Dictionary Of Woke Words . . . .. no intent to make this a political thread

This morning the smoke odor seems to be gone - at least for the time being so wind currents must have changed . . . . .

Many years ago, I read a book (don't recall the title, but it had to do with Native Americans. It talked about a number of tribes who managed the forests (their hunting grounds) by the use of controlled burns to keep dead-fall, unwanted new growth, etc. down to prevent large, uncontrolled fires and to allow better conditions foe game. I even remember discussing it with my father-in-law who was a State Forester in the U.P. and he talked about the necessity of proper forest management, one portion of which was controlled burns among other things. But . . . I guess those in the Canadian and our government, who have no education in forestry management know best . . . just ask 'em.

For those who are where there is still a lot of smoke in the air - be safe and take care of yourselves.

www.windy.com selected PM2.5 from the menu on the side... will show the smoke particulates...

last week in MN you could taste it, bitter taste... and a weird chemical smell overlaying it... that was on top of smelling it

We call them " Black Sky Summers". Like Springfield said, we get them to one degree or another most years. But the Oakland hills fire or Mukolumne fire in 1995
make make it look like a nuke went off.
