this is the Lyman Greawt Plaines .54 Cal Muzzzel loading percussion lock Hawken style with a Pineapple patch box. I will say that that person that installed the patch box tried. There is also a crack in the stock opposit of the lock. I noticed this a few years ago, and found the the lock was the culpret. That has been resolved, but the stock has not been repaired. I have found no real using issue with it.
When I bought it, it shined like a new copper penny. I stripped the finish, and browned all of the iron, and darkened the stock A LOT. it is no longer the orange look. It has been a good rifle, but I haven't shot it in at least 5 years, so it needs a new home.
