An interesting Savage .22 rf rifle

A friend gave me a Savage Model 7 .22 rf semi-auto rifle. I always liked the action on the Savage and Stevens rifles but the tube magazines are the pits. This is a box magazine version. It takes the same magazine as the Remington 500 series. I had a Model 87 Stevens in the early 60's and enjoyed how it operated with box mags.

This rifle has to be pre-war. It has hand cut checkering on a nicely grained Walnut stock. It also says for greased ammunition only. It is also British Proofed. I wish these old rifles could talk. What stories we could hear.

The rifle shoots 2" at 50 yards with Aguila Centurion ammo. Not bad with open iron sights.

Nice old 22. You might try some low velocity ammo in it. My old Stevens does best with standard or target ammo. Just a thought.
