Hornady Pro0jector press

A friend gave me a Hornady pro-jector press to sell for him. Something is not right with the powder charger connection. The charger happens to be RCBS. Please check out the pics. There is also a long coil spring that has to be attached. If you have a pro-jector, can you see what is wrong?

That is the factory old unit
The bushing in the center rides on the nut in the ram to push up on the arm to drop the powder when the ram/shell plate is up

Not the best system as each time the ram is moved up it wants to dump powder.
You also have to adjust the linkage to be just so right.

The spring puts downward pressure on the arm of the powder measure to keep things all in line
Have to keep all the pieces and joints oiled as they dry out and get gummy

I may have a few parts for that old system, will look tomorrow

The die to the left is a RCBS lock out die, to stop things if the powder is short or too much

A more current Hornady Powder measure linkage is much better as it uses the case to activate the powder measure
So with the newer system, no case in the shell plate means no powder dumped into the case

Also the primer system has that Alumium block on the bottom, to hold the tube, problem is the factory slotted it and it WILL get loose and cause primer issues
I built several blocks with out the slot to cure that problem
Thise old primer tubes are dang hard to find, but RCBS primer tubes can be bushed up to replace the Hornday tube if you dont have any

Can be good presses, if properly maintained and understood. Some parts are not available any more while some still interchange from the Lock and Load
I have 2 of these presses and have over 25,000 rounds thru both of them.

It appears that I got rid of all those old powder dump parts.

I can supply a copy of the factory manual, and parts list.
I bought a lot of replacement parts in 2011 and have some spares I would be willing to sell

I just bought one from Midway.

I got frustrated with the powder dropper on my old Pro-Jector and took all the linkages off and operated it manually.

My new LNL has the new version that is case activated.
I would encourage whoever gets it to make that conversion too even if they keep that powder dropper.

Since you posted this 6 months ago you may have already sorted out your powder measure. I know it's sacrilegious, but I have a Pro-7, a Pro-Jector, and 2 LnL's. I actually still have this measure on my Pro-jector. You just have to remember to take the rod off if you have an open slot in your shell plate. However, my older Pro-7 got a Lee disc (Whatever that's called). It works just fine for loading 9mm. I have that as a dedicated 9mm press. I'm running out of table room. I have two Lyman ST's mounted for rifle cartridges, and an RCBS Junior mounted upside down for sizing too. So I'll probably have to let go of my Pro-7 soon. I just got the second LnL in a deal with an unknown amount (At least 6000) of small rifle primers, some large rifle primers, 15 lbs of various powders (all still sealed square steel tins. Any idea how old they are? 60's?), 1000 .224's 55's, a Lee single, and some other stuff. I think this guy bought this stuff at an auction and had no idea what he had. He had that blank stare when I got there and started speaking reloading to him as I wS rooting around in the boxes (I've seen that look on my wife's face too). I had put up a flyer for used reloading stuff and he contacted me. He wanted $300.00 for all of it. I didn't even haggle.

here's some pics of the stock Pro-sector setup. note that the spring is not the original one, although it is installed the same way. The alignment of the powder measure/spring/ball joint in the rod is critical to smooth operation.
