Hatfield .45 ML pistol anyone seen another?

This pistol was acquired from the estate of a buyer for Cabelas. It was made by Pedersoli but the locked is marked “Hatfield” I have not found another example and wonder if it could have been a sample for a pistol that had never reached production. Thoughts? I have lead a sheltered life and maybe have not been out enough to see another.

Are you sure the whole thing was made by Pedersoli? Or possibly a custom that somebody used a Ped barrel and a Hatfield lock? Looks like a nice pistol at any rate.

It a gun that appears to never have been shot. Pedersoli marked barrel. Thinking that Hatfield had a connection to Cabelas and when he could not produce enough rifles, Cabelas had the rifle made by Pedersoli and named it “The Blue Ridge”. I have a .45 Hatfield Rifle and that has an L&R Lock marked Hatfield. The rifles barrel is marked Hatfield and two digit serial number.

I found a post on another message board that talked about the Pedersoli "Hatfield" rifles...

I have two Hatfields, a .45 flintlock manufactured in 1989 by Pedersoli under contract with the U.S. Hatfield company (using L&R Locks and premium maple from the US), and a .50 caplock by the original Hatfield company in St. Joseph, MO. If you offered me $600 for each one you would not get either one.
That might give a hint as to when and how those pistols came to be.

I remember back when Pedersoli promoted the Hatfield rifle but have never seen a pistol or heard of one being manufactured.

    I second that!!!

I saw a couple pictures of other "Hatfield" pistols out on the 'net so it could be that actions were taken off rifles and put on pistols but it seems more likely that there were some made.

My memory is a bit foggy, but IIRC, Hatfield went through a couple of iterations on their own and the name and designs were purchased by Pedersoli. I have a 36 cal early Hatfield flintlock. Great wood and a deeply browned barrel. Very slim, nice gun. I have never encountered a Hatfield pistol, but it looks like a transition gun between Hatfield and Pedersoli. Good looking rig!!

Nice pistol, no matter who made it. Enjoy.

I believe Badgershooter is correct. I have seen rifles with Pedersoli barrels and Hatfield locks. Believed them to be transition guns. They became the Frontier and the Blueridge rifles. I've never seen a pistol, must not have been many made. I too have an older Hatfield .36 flinter. Very nice wood, and a fine shooter. I think that pistol is a great find. I'd grab one up fast if I found one.

Thanks. Never had seen one so a must have to go with my .45 Hatfield rifle. Still wondering if was a sample made for Cabelas that never went into production. Likely to never know for sure unless folks come forward saying they have one too.
