Thread: Barrel ID?

    Barrel ID?

    I've gotten my hands on a couple of NOS .458 24" tubes but I have no idea of the maker. The only marks on them are a small star stamped on the butt end.
    The guy I got them from has forgotten who built them. He got them about 20 years ago. And yes, I have a use for them! One is scheduled for a Spanish roller and the other is for a Siamese Mauser.

    Any ideas?

    The star sounds like a generic mark. Maybe it indicates that the barrels were star gauged? The point being that what you have is basically unmarked. Couldn't begin to guess who manufactured it. You'd be surprised how many people who make barrels there are out there!
    We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).

    Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.

    We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!

    There was a Star barrel company years ago. I know I got one of their barrels back in the late sixties or early seventies. Button rifled, not a bad barrel really. I can't remember what, if anything, was stamped on the end.
