If I’m being completely honest, it’s primarily my OCD. The guys in my hunting group make fun of me because I tell them all the time that pretty ammo kills better. It’s like how racing stripes add horsepower to cars!

I stand bullets up when powder coating so that I will get the best and most even coat. This is no problem with pistol bullets. However, there's few things more frustrating than standing up a batch of rifle bullets, only to have one fall over and topple half of them like dominoes. To fix this I got a piece of stainless perforated sheet with 5/16" holes and bent the edges down to make a fixture to hold the bullets from falling over. It works great.

I notice that the bullet bases are not covered well with PC when baked standing up. Would wrinkling the non-stick aluminum help or pressing the PC base on additional PC paint on the base help?

Shaked&Baked standing up on either Parchment paper and/or copper
grill mat, the bullet bases will be just as cured as the rest of the surfaces.

When I want really nice perfect bases I set mine nose down. I made blocks and drilled holes that kinda fit the nose. I only hand dip base in powder when I do this. Works for me for the need that arises.

I have several pieces of metal that I drilled holes in that fits the area on my Boolits where the Gas Check will go.
I ESPC the Boolits and then bake them on the pieces of metal.
When cooled down , I then seat the GC's and size the Boolits.
The Boolits look so cool with our the GC powder coated.
Plus the part where the GC goes on , is not PC'ed and fits better.
Flat base non GC Boolits just get stood up on the steel plates and baked standing up.
I have tried baking the Boolits when laying down.
When sizing them , I noticed they were not as round because the PC either flows down or makes a flat spot where the Boolit sits on the baking tray.
That also makes some of the Boolits stick together and causes blemishes when you break them apart.
It takes more time and care to stand up the Boolits.
But to me , it is well worth it

I bake mine standing up on silicone treated parchment paper from the baking section of the grocery store. The parchment does not seem to interfere with the coating-- so the PC is fairly uniform on the bases.

I bake mine standing. As stated above, more even coat. I did intentionally bake some laying down and they shot OK, just not better than those standing. Trying to keep them from touching each other was a pain.

Gas checked bullets I wipe the powder off the base. Just a thing I do to prevent any extra powder around the base. These are rifle bullets intended for long range accuracy.

Pistol and plinking bullets I really don't care one way or the other. As few as I make it is easier for me to just stand them up on the pan. The bases end up coated. I use a silicone cookie sheet in my pan. It has kind of a pebble texture to it which is imparted to the base of the bullet.

That's exactly the problem I had with 300 Blackout. The loaded cartridges would not chamber easily at all! I solved it with Hitek coating the 311235 bullets.

I am thinking of making a jig or holder by welding nails on a metal sheet to powder coat upside down hollow points bullets and see if it works.

Use something like is in post #9. Just make sure the nose of the bullet does not go too deep. It may leave a small ring on the nose, but it will be in an area that does not affect performance. If using nails, the powder could stick to the nails leaving blemished bullets in areas where it could affect performance.

I got a small roll of teflon sheet off Amazon that I line a shallow baking sheet with. Works great.
