    Canadian powder coaters

Where are you getting your powder from? Anywhere in Canada?

I have been having great success with tool blue from Emerald coating in Ontario and they ship. I have not tried any of their other colours. I’ve also had success with Harbour Freight red and Princess Auto blue. But both have been discontinued.

If you can’t find Emerald Coatings shoot me a PM.

Thanks Ipel. Some contacted me that KMS Tools sells Eastwood powder. I checked the store here in Victoria, and bought a 1/2 pound of full gloss clear. I understand this is one of the good types of power for shake and bake. I also like the idea that lead bullets look like lead.

The powder coated easily with the shake and bake. Bake on and flowed nicely. I could only manage about 370f with my small toaster oven in my cold garage. I will pound one down to see how well the coating adheres.

Passed the smash test. No sign of any of the coating flaking or separating! I like it. A lead bullet that looks like a lead bullet.

I just found out KMS Tools sells Eastwood so I'll give that a try. I can hit it on the way home.

For the last few years, HF red and flat black works well for me with shake and bake but I'm running low.
I do one coat with just red, bake and do the second coat with a 50/50 red/flat black mix....

Shot my first powder coated bullets today. Loaded 50 314299 sized 0.315 for the 303British. Used a mild charge of red dot that was pushing the bullets at approximately 1100 fps. Loads of fun and accurate out to 100 yds. The barrel cleaned up with one patch of Hoppes and one dry patch. I am sold on powder coat. No lubrisizing and little smoke, and my hands stayed much cleaner.
