M92 in 32/20 half mag, hex barrel

My LGS has a nice 92 Winchester on the rack today, 32/20 with hex barrel, half magazine, bore shiny and unpitted but about 7/10. By the serial No. made in 1906. Missing the rear sight and a couple of forend screws but everything else looks original.

The asking price is $US370 but I'm only on a gummint pension so I'm loath to commit. Might put a bit ($) aside each pay and if still unsold in a few weeks, buy it for my collection. I will then have early 92's in 25/20 (1919), 38/40 (1892) and 44/40 (1896). These are the main guns that I plink tin cans with a few times every week.

Is the asking price similar to prices in USA?

    My 38/40's made in 1892.

Wow that is increadible. The 38/40's pictured have 4 digit Serial No's which are consequetive (**92 &**93), a special order for the State prison service guards. I have since purchased another 38/40 (1919) that was also issued for prison service.

Prices have went crazy on even well used guns here in the last ten years.

I have to ask though, does it really have a hex barrel? I've seen and held an awful lot of octagon barrels, but never a hex (although many auctioneers describe them as such). Maybe they can't count to eight? Sorry a pet peeve of mine.

If you have to, put money down on that rifle and make payments. If you wait to save up for it, it will sell the day before you go to get it. (ask any of us how we know this!)

$1100 or so here with the sight a little less without. I would have had to buy it if i had to borrow the money to do it or at least put it on layaway.

I would jump on it in a heartbeat, figuratively.
Paid more than that for one w/a sewerpipe barrel. It's since gotten a Green Mountain replacement.

I would not pass that by. that is an outstanding price if the gun is functional. the last gun like that that I saw in a local shop for sale was $1200 and that was before the whole world went crazy

Got an order today for 10 hand crafted pens that I make. That should cover half the cost!

I've been intrigued by those turned wooden pens for years, but I tend to misplace ink pens way to often to invest in one. I also lack a ready market if I were to start making them myself.
