YouTube video, casting & sizing bullets, start to finish

What’s the best video to watch on how to do this? I want to start casting soon, but it seems a little overwhelming.

Also, what should I consider for apron & gloves.

How do I even answer that question? To cast viable bullets for a wider selection and an economy of scale for personal reloading???

Hmm ok , well that's a start ! See I asked because cast for say cheap 9mm for plinking cans for shooting silloutets and casting for bench rest target are two different animals for example if where looking at the extras of the spectrum.
That being said the basics are all about the same but one you go past basic rifle and hand gun loads out of the Lyman book good Lord its something! That being said I think it's one of the upmost ultimate tailoring things a guy can do as far as reloading goes

I use Carhart Insulated Work Gloves. They work well. Other insulated gloves were not as heat resistant or would fall apart much quicker. I don't wear a apron. I just wear blue jeans, appropriate jacket and appropriate shoes.

Focus on one aspect at a time. Sizing is simple, you just need the right equipment. There is no technique other than operating a handle.

Casting is also simple once you have the correct rhythm down. Starting with a cold mold will waste much time. Either preheat the mold or expect the first 20+ pours to be rejects. Even if you preheat the mold expect the first half a dozen pours to be rejects. I don't even inspect the first couple pours and just drop them back into the pot or set them aside(dropping them back in wastes time and can cause splashes). The first couple pours should be done as quickly as you can safely do them to get the mold up to temperature I used to use a hot plate but now I just put the mold on top of the little cover I fashioned for my lee 20 lbs pot but you can just put the mold on the ledge of the pot if you can balance it correctly.

If the mold and sprue are not up to temperature the bullets will not fill out correctly and look like junk. I toss every bullet back unless the defect is very small and not on the base of the bullet. Any bullet without a perfectly round base get tossed back. If the sprue plate is not up to temp the base will not fill out.

I would consider the first casting session to be as much, if not more, of a learning session than trying to get 500(or whatever number) perfect bullets. You will learn more in half an hour doing rather than watching a bunch of videos. Assuming you have the equipment and a general idea of what you are doing.

For what it's worth, I have not used an apron. While I'm sure it's a good add-on, many who describe their "casting get-up" make no mention of an apron. I would think first and foremost of gloves and shoes. I wear closed leather boots (no laces), and heavy fireplace gloves that come up to my elbows. Here's a thread from early this year called "What do you wear while casting?":

In the summer I cast wearing only a pair of short, not something I would recommend for a beginner.
These men and their hypnotized followers call this a new order. It is not new. It is not order.

One welding glove right hand. For opening the sprue, two cavity or less. Eye pro. If cold out long sleeve shirt. Good leather boots.
I sit when bottom pouring, stand when ladle pouring. Just the way my area is set up, makes it easier to see things.

Try different things and find what works for you. Every mold is different, either write it down or remember the differences.

What Wolfdog said get the Lyman book, good information. Best thing is to start casting.
You will save money! At least until you need one more mold!

Ove-gloves, blue jeans and boots tall enough that the cuff of the pants cover the tops of the boots.

There are plenty of posts available with the search engine here. I would suggest checking out multiple sources. Here’s one place to start learning.

Post #2 and Post #11 are especially helpful. Hopefully I should get going on this soon. In the meantime, a turkey fryer is necessary to create ingots. Now is probably the time of year to order one.

Utube has been exercising the cancel culture motto. So many channels and videos deleted because they show casting. Larger channels are allowed to continue.

Jerry Michuleck has a pretty good one.

    https://youtu.be/4uxIraZnPFQ

GunBlue490 also has a short series.

And dont forget Fortune Cookie 45 too. He has many videos.

Elvis Ammo is enjoyable to watch and a real nice guy with countless videos on casting and coating bullets.

I also really Liked Walter Bunning and tryed me best to produce informative videos on Casting but both these channels have been deleted. Both of us have channels on Rumble with videos up and viewable.
