    Knife Repair

I picked up another of my favorite knives, a vintage VTG 11-125 Seki Explorer, 5" folder/lockback. But this one has a slight wobble side-to-side of the blade. Can I compress the rivet in a vise or re-peen it to eliminate that side-to-side sloppiness? It's not much, just a few thou', but is noticeable.

Any help from the knife-maker members?

The short answer is yes - just be careful you don’t get it too tight.

    I wouldn't try the vise.
Peening it should work fine. Go slow and use a light touch, sneak up on it carefully.
It'll go from too loose to way too tight in a heartbeat if you are not careful about it.

Thanks all. I may try the arbor press on it as the "feel" is a lot more subtle.

A couple small squeeze's on the bench vise worked perfectly. Thanks all.

That is most likely a temporary fix, Pinne the pin as others have suggested, Or get a pin that is .001 larger
