    The price of Federal primers.

Not a reloading question just an observation…. Today I paid $112(£99), for 1000 Federal small pistol primers! I live in the UK and was told that the next delivery will be higher than that. What do you all pay?

I haven’t seen Federal primers for sale in quite a while so I can’t comment. Let your money make you happy and don’t look back.

I have not seen any primers for sale in a very long time. So I cannot answer this question? You need, You pay to play. Aint going to get any cheaper. Demorats will see to that.
Tried to buy primers and powder today, two stores, none to be had, just empty shelves.

Pretty much the same. Powder valley website had 1,000 earlier today for $95. After shipping and hazmat they’d be more than you paid. 3 years ago they were $30 per thousand. Summer of 2020 they were running $200 if you could find them.

The last primers I bought were $19.95 a thounsand but that was many years ago; the 1990's to be exact. I still have enough primers to last me awhile if I am conservative in my shooting. Plus, I have switched to air rifles and air pistols the last 3 years so I should be good to go. I know that sometimes you can get in a bind and need to pay that kind of money but as long as the public is willing to pay the prices being asked right now, the price will never come down. Not condemming anyone, just making a point. And I agree, the market is being manipulated right now by the government and the makers. The scalpers are just taking advantage while they are able. my .02 anyway, james

It all depends on the person I use 12,000 primers or more a year and definitely have more money right now than time left on the planet.

The last gun show they had around here (Oct. 3rd) CCI primers were $169.95 for 1K. Federals were not available.

LGS had CCI primers for $80/K except for large rifle. They did have Remington large rifle but those were $120/K. That was a couple of weeks ago. I've not been back since.

No primers at Bass pro in Savannah GA. IMR 4227 $49.99 a pound. They still have those same three pounds! I just happened to be in the area, today! Did not spend any money.

The prices on ammunition has gone down a little. Primers are easy to find in the internet that was not true last year. The prices in many cases have not gone down yet that I have seen. There is a tremendous backlog in demand for them. But I predict they will within a year drop to maybe 50-60 dollars per 1,000 assuming that some new crisis does not occur. Inflation is now part of the picture so there are primers, but they are more expensive than they need to be. If it gets any worse I may buy a flint lock assuming I can find some black power lol.

You didn't get hurt on that deal. In the US we never know what these idiots in Washington D.C will do next. That's one reason for the high prices. At least you have primers now.
