I recently purchased an estate lot which included these two Hensley & Gibbs 6-cavity molds with handles. I am selling them in as-found condition. The previous owner has “painted” all molds in some sort of gray paint or mold release. I’ve used a couple keepers from this lot and it does not affect the cast.
The first mold is a No. 527, which is a button-nosed WC in 38/357 caliber and 150 grains. The handles are good and solid. Mold looks good and cavities should clean up nicely. Has one non-original screw which is the locking set screw for the sprue plate. Mold is marked “Hensley & Gibbs” “San Diego, Cal”. Asking $160 plus shipping REDUCED TO $120 plus shipping NOW INCLUDING SHIPPING. SOLD!
The second mold is a No. 218.357, which is a SWC in 38/357 caliber and 156 grains. The handles have one cracked and loose wooden handle. A few of the cavities look “speckled” but feel pretty decent and should clean up okay. I can’t tell if this is spray from the coating or speckling of surface rust. I have not tried to clean or cast with this, but I have seen worse clean up very nicely. I wouldn’t expect this one to not be fine after feeling inside the cavities with a toothpick. This one is marked “Hensley & Gibbs” “Murphy, Oregon”. Asking $200 plus shipping REDUCED TO 160 PLUS SHIPPING. SOLD!
These are used molds and definitely not perfect, but are collectible and high quality. They are the only H&G molds of the lot. I’ve tried to guesstimate the value based off of recent eBay sales, but neither of these cavity styles have sold recently. They will more than likely need to ship in a medium flat rate box, so keep that in mind. I am open to reasonable offers and I accept PayPal or can arrange to receive a personal check or Postal Money Order if discussed in advance.
