    Ohaus 45-185-W

Does anyone have an old Ohaus load data handbook? Looking for a pix of the load data for the 45-185-W mould. Specifically the OAL.

My other option is to start with the load data from the Lyman 452389 in the absence of Ohaus data

I don’t have any references to tell if this translated over into into an RCBS mould, but even then I don’t have that load data either anyway

I have the 1986 RCBS Cast Bullet Manual number 1 , which was the very first manual RCBS published . No OAL's are shown for any loads , handgun or rifle !
Here is what is listed ( I don't have capability to take and post copy of the page) :

    45 Auto
    Gun: Colt Gov't Model
    Barrel : 5 inch
    Twist : 1 in 16
    Cases : Speer
    Primers : CCI 300

    45 - 185 - BB (this is a SWC with a bevel base)

    Wt. 185 grain
    Dia, .452"
    Lube : Pistol

And that's all she wrote ... no OAL's are listed for any bullet .
This was back in the day when you had to figure it out all by yourself !

    The next boolit is a 45 - 200 - SWC flat base .
the 185 gr. BB SWC referenced above, boolit is the only 185 gr. boolit listed in the #1 Manual and it has two narrow lube grooves .
I don't know if this is the old Ohaus boolit .
Let me know if you need the powder / charge load data ... ain't no OAL to give .

gw, PM sent. BTW this is the flat base version.

LOL on the lack of info, i run into this often when getting out of production moulds or bullets.

I keep seeing fleeting references to the Ohaus manual but have not been able to find a copy.

No OAL listed, suggest seating to fit "plunk test" OAL for your barrel.

LoL as suspected the load data went a bit off the rails. It appears this version of the Ohaus plain base button nose bullet did not translate into the RCBS lineup.

Thanks Larry, The screenshot of the RCBS data is good to have to bounce against the Lyman 452389 data to get my starting load.

I have some cast and lubed up ready to load once i pick my starting Bullseye charge. OAL will likely start with the generic thumbnail of lead above the case mouth and go from there. If worse comes to worse and its not functional in my Springer my mentor has a S&W revolver that would like these just fine.
