Have a Frankenfield 1903A3 I'm putting together. National Ordinance action, 1944 barrel. Bought what turned out to be a 1903A1 handguard from Numrich Arms, and it's not quite long enough. It is about 4" short. I might be able to make a section long enough to turn the A1 handguard into an A3 with a 4"x2"x2" block of walnut, or if I can learn to be other than a wood butcher, a 19"x2"x2" chunk would let me make the whole thing. Based on my skill level at woodworking, I'd much prefer to buy a handguard. I can get the clips at Numrich Arms, fairly cheaply. What I desperately need is the wood! Numrich Arms had the A1 handguards for sale at $21.95. When they were in stock, the A3 handguards were in the $47 range. I believe I have about every other bit or piece I need to put this puppy together, I don't need perfect wood, just something that will pass well enough. I wanna shoot it! It will never be a collector's item. Except in my collection. I would be willing to trade my A1 handguard and other valuable objects/cash for an A3 handguard, too, if anyone is in the reverse situation.
