    Ramshot hunter for cast ?

So I've been seeing this stuff constantly ever since this shortage started. Not sure expensive think I'll buy a jug when I finally order some primers. Anyone tried it when loading for cast well , anything lol ? Think i might be able to mess with it in gc pc'ed linotype boolits or paper patched
Anyhow anyone use this stuff ? Cast or jacketed ?How y'all like it ? Never had much licked with ball powders

Hi Wolfdog, I have not used Hunter, but I have used Blue. Different speed range for sure BUT, I love the powder. I am VERY happy with Blue. I suspect you will like Hunter also.

    Wolfdog,
I recently got some Hunter and am trying it in my .30-49 in a Ruger#1 with a Green Mountain 11.25 twist barrel. The load was 52.0 grns with the Arsenal HVTH 170 bullet, PC, using a copper enhanced alloy. (not recommended for military .30-40s) The 10 shot average was 2586 fps. 2 1/8" @ 100 yds. I want to slow this down to around 2400 fps.

Ramshot Hunter is a slower burning rifle powder . I'm looking at the Western Handloading Guide edition 7.0 and it's listed on the burn rate chart as being inbetween REL 17 and REL 19 .
And being just a little slower than Accurate , IMR and H - 4350
    It's between H-4350 and H-4831 and also between IMR-4350 and IMR-4831.

So any calibers that use 4350 and/or 4831 ... then Ramshot Hunter should fit right in .

I clicked on the target and got close to the screen ... Target has
30-40 written on it ... 9 and 0 are close together ...easy to aim for zero and hit 9 ...30-40 Krag ... Yeah ...that's the ticket

Yeah Prirate69, you got me. .30-49 was an error. My bad. Probably, correctly, it should have been a .40-52.

Hunter seems awfully slow for cast but there is usually Ramshot for sale when other brands have dried up. Enforcer might be more useful - dose it out like 2400. Powder Valley had 4 pounders for $100.
