    Please recommend a mold..

    .. for 38spl and 357 out of an S&W 27-2.
Is a 358-477 a good place to start?

My favorite 38/357 mold is the NOE 360-160 WFN. It shoots great in all my .38 caliber guns. It is available in a hollow point too.
    KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.

The 358477 is an excellent place to start. I've shot thousands of them over the years from mild 38 SPL velocities using Bullseye, Red Dot or 700X up through 1200+ fps 357 magnum loads using Unique and Blue Dot.

I'd suggest to be on the lookout for a 358156 down the road as it is an excellent bullet for top end 357 Magnum loads.

    Beautiful revolver BTW.....

This is my favorite go to mold that I use for my 27-2… https://www.titanreloading.com/produ...ld-358-158-rf/

This one is a close second.

Nobody has any complaints about the Lee 358-158 RNFP . It seems to shoot fine in everything I ever put it in .

    That’s a nice looking .357!

I’ll recommend the MP mold because it has one wide lube groove, which I expect will make casting easier. I have the NOE-360-160-WFN with five cavities, and it does not like to eject boolits. It’s not for lack of wear-in, as I am at least the third owner. It may be defective (which would explain why it was sold twice), or it may be that the two lube grooves are causing ejection challenges. The thin driving band between the lube grooves has a tendency to have rounded edges (i.e. difficult mold fill-out). Now the wide flat nose has sharp corners, and is probably very good for hunting. I’ll be coating this mold with Hi Tek Bonded Mold Release.

If it’s just for target shooting, I’d go with the single lube groove mold from MP. If you want a hunting boolit and figure maybe I have a bad copy, go for the NOE in two cavity - fewer cavities means easier ejection.

    Nice 27-2!
My favorites are RCBS 38-150-SWC & RCBS 38-158-CM. And the old Lyman 358311 is another.
    I cast 50/50 WW/Pb, about 10 BHN. Lube with 50/50 Alox/Beeswax.
Those 3 do well in all my 38/357's.

I'll second the RCBS 38-150-SWC, and the 38-158-CM. My personal favorite however is the RCBS 38-140-CM. I have all three molds, and this one shoots the best in all of my 38/357 chambered firearms.

I have a 28 ex-Texas DPS that loves anything it’s fed! I bet yours won’t be picky, either. Good luck!

Another vote for the RCBS 38-150 SWC. Extremely accurate which is my goal.for any bullet. RCBS only makes a steel 2 cavity mold. Arsenal, and perhaps others I do not know of, make a clone of the 38-150.

    Gents,
Do the RCBS 2-cavity molds accept ONLY RCBS handles?

I always suggest to first buy one and maybe more in the future, if available and try the boolits out. Later you can invest in a top shelf mold when you have an idea of what you want and need to shot well in your gun.
