    Tried a new accessory

I recently received an accessory for my GP-100 MC in 10mm.
It's an extended cylinder release for competition. It looks a little funny,, but it sure works VERY, VERY well. My speed reloads seemed quicker & smoother today at my local USPSA match. And it must have worked because my scores reflected a "good day" at the match.
Hogue makes the cylinder release lever,, and I LIKE it.

Now,, I know some folks have no need for such a device,, and that's fine. But I wanted to give a review of it for those who MIGHT like one.

That is certainly extended. About five times what I was thinking, but if it works for you- go for it.

    I too like the grips.

    Thanks for the comments.

    The grips are factory.

The cylinder release appears large & maybe too big etc. However,, I found it to be quite easy to operate,, and NOT as large or too big at all. It never got hung up on anything,, and I even tried it in a plain Kydex holster along with my competition holster.

So far,, everyone who has handled it,, liked it & found it comfortable to operate.

That's quite the extended lever! Also love the grips, I have a soft spot for stippled wood

Also a USPSA shooter, occasionally an IDPA match. I have a 3" 686, a 4" Model 64 DAO, and 929 JM PC when I feel like popin' a wheelie. I have Hogue's extended on my 686 and SDM on the 929.

That's really extended. I shoot with Dave Olhasso of Team Ruger on a semi regular basis. I’ll have to make a point to notice what he has on his revolvers.

Here’s a short video where Dave shows off his Super GP100. His release is shorter and paddle shaped for a bit lower profile.

Yep,, David's release was of his own design. He mentions that Hogue was developing one as well.

My release is the Hogue version,,, and it does work. It's profile isn't as pronounced at the picture makes it to be. My photo skills!

I also have a S&W 646 in .40 S&W I used a lot in USPSA competition,, and it too has the Hogue extended cylinder release like the one shown above.

The extended releases don’t have a lot of effect on my reload times (I’m a S&W guy), but I can see where they would be a big improvement on the Ruger.

I won a Match Champion at the 2019 IRC. Traded it at the shop without ever picking it up out of the box. It was a nice revolver, but the last thing I need is another .38/.357.

That’s the perfect IDPA revolver. Not that I shoot IDPA anymore.

    "Looks like a thumb-biter to me. "

    Actually, not at all.

I'm going to try & get a different picture,, one from above & behind it.
