    I love Unique, but I wouldn't use it in a .50-90 myself.

I use 15grains of it in my 45-70 CVA. Also just read a post with a picture of an antique can of unique that recommended loads on the label… one was 17 grains 45-70. How much difference in size and using better steel is the modern Winchester 1885 50-90?

I got one a long time ago, wouldn't shoot great till I had the barrel set back and rechambered, smokeless load,33 grains of 5744, 620 grain Creedmoor bullet cast with a BACO mold, work great to 700 yards.

    HW,
    What twist are you using?
I built one in a '74 from a casting, used a GM barrel in 1:24 and struggled with it using black, finally switched to that exact load _- bullet and powder. Very comfortable and accurate to 1000 yds. Recently bought the 710 gr mold from Baco hoping to make this my mile gun. Plan to do some load development next month.

Hi GT. Mine has a badger barrel in 1-26 twist. My mile load is PP ,670 grain with 32 grains of 5744. Could send you some bullets if you want to try them.

    HW,
Interesting, I made a swaging die that makes a dual diameter core and did paper patch also. The last batch I tried weighed in at 645 (the die has quite a range of adjustment) and it didn't work that well with black. I haven't tried it with smokeless yet, what are you patching it to for diameter? Are you sizing the case? or patching it to fit the unsized case?
