I have always looked forward to the Winter Olympics since Squaw Valley back in the day. Ski Jumping Bob Sleds mens events. Then came the half pipe stuff, which I had first saw it. What kind of hippie skate board nonsense! But, that too had a degree of skill for a bunch of kids in baggy smurf outfits. I even liked the figure skating with Dick Buttons and Scott Hamilton etc. This year way way not so much. Ski Jumping with no risk, points shaved for tail or head winds??? Bob Sleds schemed so scientifically and courses devised so perfectly that the competitors are all only separated by 3/10ths of a second up or down. Now the Luge and Skeleton are stil the nervy thing I like and wish I had a crack at while younger. Man, I'd buy a ticket on that ride. The figure skating done to hip hop dirges yuk! instead of Dick Buttons ( Who is alive and well) we get Johnny Wier FLAMING yuk again. And just like Everything else right now, Mixed messages. Is this doping, Yeah But in this case?????
I don't think I will be back anytime soon. Goodbye Mike Trico I'm sick of you too.
“You should tell someone what you know. There should be a history, so that men can learn from it.

He smiled. “Men do not learn from history. Each generation believes itself brighter than the last, each believes it can survive the mistakes of the older ones. Each discovers each old thing and they throw up their hands and say ‘See! Look what I have found! Look upon what I know!’ And each believes it is something new.

I like curling, and it was the only event I watched.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Since we got "wide angle" HD cable service some years ago I've not watched anything at all on the old line of alphabet propaganda channels of the Democrat Party. In fact, I really don't know if my TV receives them any more and I'm not going to check it now.

I'm a old, southern, straight, white, reasonably intelligent, patriotic Christian male who proudly wore a U.S. military uniform. Our transparently phoney, blow-dried, arrogant, hive minded, pompous, politically "progressive", spiritually ignorant, socially contemptible and morally slimey "news", sports and entertainment people insulted my intelligence to my face the last time quite a few years ago!

So, I must ask, "What Olympics, what World Series, what Super Bowl, what 60 Minutes, etc., do you mean? Do they still do that?"

Normally I watch Biathlon with interest since I volunteered on the summer training courses of the team. This time I avoided watching the genocide games. I did pull the scope off my 22 Hornet and have gone back to basics with iron peep sights. Years ago I did my own version of biathlon down in Nevada when I Xctry skied down a pack of coyotes in soft snow then executed a few with that 22 Hornet when the coyotes trapped a flock of sheep next to Hwy 50. I miss those skis but my knees won't allow that anymore.

What did I like about the Olympics? That Randy Matson who lived just a few houses down the Road from us won the Gold for the US In Shot Put.

Oh; wait a minute. That was in 1968, last time I watched/followed the Olympics.

I promise you NONE OF OUR ATHLETES TOOK A KNEE! They took the flag and WAVED IT PROUDLY, ALL THE WAY TO THE CLOSING CEREMONY.

You can't lump the olympics in with the rest of the unpatriotic trash. That's NOT at all fair to those kids who worked like a DOG to get where they are today. Some of our medal winners have been to FIVE OLYMPICS! Represented the USA for the last 20 YEARS! They were proudly patriotic while dip **** Colon Kaperneck was still in HIGH SCHOOL. Your comments only show that YOU are the one missing the point.

I agree with DougGuy up to a point. Yes, the athletes work almost non stop to just get the honor of competing for a spot on the Olympic team let alone to win anything. A family friend's nephew won a gold in the Men's in 4/100 medley relay and came in 9th in the 100 meter back stroke at the past summer games and it was pretty neat to say the least. Now I did not watch the Olympics, out front, it has absolutely nothing to do with the athletes, but the political aspects are unavoidable and I have always felt to use these people to make a statement is despicable. Just my opinion, other's obliviously vary quite a bit.

Your comments show you have missed my point.

First, kindly note that I didn't say a thing about the kid's political antics.

In fact I DO respect their costly acquired skills but I'm not captivated with them; after all, at the end of the day it's just kid games. I don't care very much if the kids drop to their knees or roll around on the ground in attempts to make their childish political points; after all, they're just kids.

However, I totally reject watching or listening to panels of grown-up TV airheads who believe THEY are the real stars and obviously think the public laps up their piles of libbrul political drivel, along with seeing a few background visuals of the kid's play days of course. (And I include the spoiled rich kid players and TV motor mouths in professional children's games in that.)

I know it will never happen but I wonder how much good the frivolous Olympic training, construction, operating and entertainment money would do if it went to something actually helpful to people's lives such as the St. Jude Children's Hospital, et al, instead of it all just passing away like a brief vapor.

Not much, but I was surprised they showed so much of the Biathlon.

My wife and I watched most of it every night . While it’s on I am looking at guns online and she reads but when the Americans were doing their sports we watched. I also watch the summer games . Have watched the Olympics since I have been a kid especially the boxing.

The best thing I liked about the Olympic Games this year is that they were far away nd I didn't pay any attention to them.

The worst thing is they are over and the athletes are coming home! Nothing against the competitors, just wondering what is riding along.

Nothing against the competitors but they are pawns in a propaganda game by the CCP so I watched zero and am glad we still have that right to chose.

NZ earned a few medals, unfortunately I haven't seen any of it but proud we punched above our weight again. Lot of negativity about another sport here.

If there was a shooting Olympics and all your friends poo pooed it as crap and not worth watching how would you feel...

If you don't have something nice to say about it...

I agree with Doug Guy on #38 and #46. I watched as much as I could, and admire the athletes and their hard work and perseverance that allowed them to achieve the level of performance that they are capable of- winners and losers. The heck with politics.

OUCH! I suppose NBC agrees. I just saw a report that viewership was down some 40% from four years ago.
